Kalahandi: A woman died after she was attacked by a bear in Baradanga village under the Koksara block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Bhabani Bagh, a resident of Patraasa village under Baradanga panchayat of the district.

According to reports, the bear attacked Bhabani while she was returning home after watching a drama last night. Local villagers spotted her blood-stained body on Wednesday morning and informed Ampani police and Forest Department officials.

On being informed, police and Forest Department personnel reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

According to the locals, the area is densely forested, and wild bears are on the prowl. Two similar cases of bear attacks were reported in the area recently.
