Bhawanipatna: A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Dengsargi village on the road connecting Lanjigarh to Muniguda in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Bhurkuli Majhi.
According to reports, an unidentified speeding vehicle hit Bhurkuli while she was crossing the road last night.
Angered over the incident, the deceased’s family members staged a road blockade demanding compensation. As a result, traffic was disrupted on the Muniguda-Lanjigad road for a long time. On being informed, a team from Lanjigarh police station reached the spot and appeased the aggrieved people.
Lanjigarh police station ASI Jitendra Biswal said that efforts were underway to identify and seize the driver who fled the spot after the accident.
