Bhubaneswar: A woman was killed in a road accident in the Aiginia area under Khandagiri Police Station on Friday. The driver fled the scene immediately, leaving the victim dead on the spot.
According to reports, the woman was on her way to buy vegetables when a vehicle struck her, running over her head and causing instant death. Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred in a matter of seconds, leaving no time for assistance.
After being informed, police personnel from Khandagiri Police Station arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased.
The police have now begun examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the vehicle involved and identify the driver responsible for the fatal accident.
