Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed after being run over by a speeding truck at Ekta Chhak under Nuapada Sadar police limits on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rukmini Sahu, wife of Chhabilal Sahu (55), a resident of Rengbahal village under Komna police station in Nuapada district.
According to sources, the couple was en route to their relatives’ house on a motorcycle when the mishap occurred around 8 am. Upon reaching Ekta Chhak, Rukmini reportedly fell off the two-wheeler and was immediately crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck. She died on the spot.
Chhabilal sustained injuries in the incident and was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Nuapada for treatment.
Following the incident, police reached the spot, seized the truck, and detained the driver for questioning. An investigation into the matter is underway.
