Banki (Cuttack): A woman Sub Inspector of Banki police station Madhusmita Behera on Tuesday allegedly sustained critical injuries while she tried to overpower an ex-serviceman Saroj Das who was wielding a sword at the Similipur school ground.
Sub Inspector Behera was attacked by Das and his supporters when she tried to restrain the latter from wielding the sword.
The injured Sub Inspector has been admitted to the Sub Divisional Hospital (SDH) here.
Earlier on Friday, ex-serviceman Das had resorted to wielding of a sword and an axe creating panic among the people.
According to reports, Das, a native of Harirajpur village under Banki police limits had invested his retirement benefits to the tune of Rs 17 lakh in a business which failed and he lost all his investment.
According to Das, he had lodged a complaint with the local police in this matter in 2020.
He has alleged that the police failed to take any action in the matter.
Peeved over the matter, Das had resorted to the unique style of protest.
