Bargarh: Jayshree, a middle-aged woman, was waiting eagerly for the auspicious Thursday, and had done the cleaning and decorating her house for the Laxmi Puja the night before. But little did she know that she would not wake up to pray the goddess this ‘Margashira Thursday’.
Four miscreants on two bikes barged into their house in the wee hours of Thursday and hacked her to death with sharp weapons. Her husband Kshirod and two sons were critically injured, but no harm came to her daughter-in-law.
This incident occurred in Bairagapali village under Bijepur PS of Odisha’s Bargarh district. The miscreants had covered their faces while committing the crime and even left behind a motorcycle while escaping.
The police reached the spot for investigation with scientific team and dog squad. The critically injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.
One of the sons had a love marriage with a woman of nearby Jalapali village. The police suspects that the woman’s illicit affair with another person of that village might have led to this crime.
As the IIC of Bijepur PS is on leave, the case has been taken up by IIC of Sohela PS Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra. Investigation is on.
