Bhubaneswar: A woman and her 7-year-old son were injured when a mud wall collapsed on them while they were sleeping in their home at Gadabaguda village under Sadar block in Rayagada district on Thursday night.
The incident happened at night when the mother, Sabita Bidika, and her son, Chandrashekhar Bidika, were sleeping in their home. Due to heavy rainfall, the mud wall became weak and collapsed, trapping the duo underneath.
Neighbours rushed to the scene and rescued them. Sabita sustained minor injuries, while Chandrashekhar suffered a fractured leg. Both were admitted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Department officials visited the site, assessed the damage, and promised to provide necessary support to the affected family.
