According to reports, Sanjana had allegedly been subjected to harassment by her in-laws, including her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and elder brother-in-law, over her father’s inability to provide a car as dowry during the marriage.
The victim reportedly informed her parents about the alleged harassment and had requested them to take her back to her native place. On Sunday morning, she was found hanging in her bedroom.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and seized the body, and sent it for postmortem examination
Following a complaint lodged by Sanjana’s father, a case has been registered against her in-laws, and her husband, Anupam Chand, has been detained for questioning.
While the family alleges that Sanjana was killed over dowry-related harassment, the husband’s family has claimed that her death was a result of suicide.
The investigation is currently underway.
