Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly threw acid on the face of a drug-addicted youth in Kabisuryanagar town in Ganjam, leaving him severely injured.
The victim, Budu Das of Dwarsahi in the town, reportedly abused and tormented the woman daily while under the influence of alcohol. Tensions escalated on Saturday evening when Budu, heavily intoxicated, hurled abuses at her in front of her house. Unable to bear the repeated torment, the woman fetched acid from her home and threw it on his face, damaging his left eye badly.
Budu’s family members rushed him in critical condition to Kabisuryanagar Hospital for initial treatment. He was later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur (Brahmapur) for specialized care due to the severity of his injuries.
The victim’s family has lodged a complaint at Kabisuryanagar police station. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the accused woman, who is currently under interrogation.
