Jharsuguda: A woman was severely punished in a Kangaroo court in Rautbahal village under Laikera police limits in Jharsuguda district.
As per the kangaroo court order, the woman was tonsured and forced to host a community mutton feast.
According to reports, a dispute between a husband and wife led to a community meeting, which resulted in the woman being critically punished.
The kangaroo court punished her as she slapped her husband during a brawl.
As per the decision, the woman was tonsured and beaten of in front of the community members. The community forced the family to host a community feast. The couple’s son, who is working in Tamil Nadu, upon learning of the incident, reported it to the Laikera police station.
Based on his complaint, four persons have been arrested, and an investigation is underway. “A case was registered after receiving information from the victim’s son,” said Jharsuguda SDPO Umashankar Singh.
“We are investigating the incident, which occurred on August 9, and further details will emerge as the investigation progresses,” he added.
