Woman Worker Lifting Sand From Nullah In Rayagada Drowns

Rayagada: A woman worker on Thursday died of drowning in the Kuttingguda nullah near Kudingguda village under Kashipur block in Rayagada district.

The deceased woman worker has been identified as Manjula Majhi of Ghumuraput village in Gorakhpur panchayat of Kashipur block.

As per reports, some workers including Manjula were lifting sand from the Kuttingguda nullah when suddenly water gushed through the nullah following heavy rain upstream. Manjula and another worker were swept away in the high current in the nullah.

While the other worker was rescued, Manjula went missing. Later her body was fished out by Fire Service personnel.

A pall of gloom descended on Gorakhpur area as news of Manjula’s death spread.
