Jajpur: Police recovered a woman’s body near the embankment of the Baitarani river in Hemantpur village of Thandatpur panchayat in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Wednesday.
The woman, identified as Renuka Jena, wife of Rantha Jena of the village, is suspected to have been killed with a sharp weapon. Local people first spotted her body lying in a pool of blood on the river embankment.
On being informed, Marsalpur police reached the spot and seized the body. Sometime later, Renuka’s husband Rantha also reached the place. While the reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, police have detained the woman’s husband for interrogation.
According to sources, the victim’s husband works in a farmhouse near Hemantpur village.
