Bhubaneswar: The blood-soaked body of a woman was found on the banks of a river near the Paramahansa area under Kandarpur police jurisdiction on Saturday morning.
The victim’s body bore gruesome injuries, with deep gashes visible on the face and neck. A sharp-edged weapon was recovered from the crime scene, which police suspect may have been used to inflict the fatal wounds. The presence of the weapon and the nature of the injuries have led police to suspect a brutal and premeditated murder.
Upon being informed, the Cuttack police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
It is pertinent to mention that the woman’s left hand features a tattoo with the inscription ‘Om Baba Balia’ in Odia, alongwith the letters ‘pita kpsm’.
Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena has, meanwhile, urged anyone with information about the woman’s identity to come forward and help police unravel the mystery behind the case.
