Bargarh: The body of a 58-year-old woman was found floating in a canal at Chakulifarm under Atabira police limits in Bargarh district on Friday morning.
The deceased woman identified as Kolpati Birabhadra (58) had been suffering from epilepsy.
According to family members, Kolapati had gone out to sweep the area in front of her house when she likely fell into the canal while fetching water.
Upon being informed, police recovered the body from the canal and sent the body to District Headquarters Hospital in Puri for post-mortem.
Atabira police have registered an unnatural death case (3/2026) and launched an investigation into the matter.
