Bhubaneswar: Daitari police recovered the decomposed body of a woman from drum of a house at Bangurusuni under the police limits in Keonjhar district, on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sukanti Panda.

After receiving complaints about a foul smell coming from the residence of the deceased, police rushed to the spot and broke open the house. To the villagers’ surprise, Sukanti’s decomposed body was found stuffed inside a drum.

Police, however, are clueless about the deceased’s husband Tukuna and her two children.

Police suspect her husband had committed the murder and left the place to avoid arrest.

Police meanwhile sent the body for post-mortem and initiated a probe into the matter.
