**Bhubaneswar: ** Ruling BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday asked his party-supported elected members of the cooperative societies from across the State to work hard particularly for the benefit of the farmers.
After gracing the workshop organised here meant for those elected cooperative society members, the CM briefed media, “We’ve just had a meeting of our State Cooperative bodies. I’ve told them to work hard for the people, particularly for the farmers.”
Briefing media, Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro said, “For the first time in our State, above 90% BJD-supported candidates have been elected as presidents, secretaries, board of directors and members of the cooperative societies. And today we had a workshop for them here.”
“The discussion was based on how to march forth with the torch of cooperative movement so that the general public would get involved in it and reap the benefit,” he informed.
The Minister further informed, “Stress was laid on how the farmers owning land and also the sharecroppers could register themselves with the respective 2000 odd primary societies existing across our State catering to the needs of the farmers.”
“They were also assured that the plaguing problems in the cooperative societies will definitely be solved soon,” the Cooperation Minister stated.
