Bhubaneswar: Work on the much-awaited Metro train project in Bhubaneswar will begin by the end of 2023, informed Odisha Housing & Urban Development Minister Usha Devi while presenting the achievements of her department during the last four years before the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a review meeting on Friday.
The Chief Minister sanctioned the Metro Rail System for Bhubaneswar Capital Regional and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been engaged as the consultant for the project. The DPR is under preparation and construction work is likely to commence before the end of 2023, said the minister.
Patnaik is likely to lay the foundation stone for the project in the month of June, informed H&UD department Principal Secretary G Mathivathanan while briefing the media.
The survey for the proposed project has been completed and the DPR is in its final stage. The routes for running the Metro train have also been identified. Initially, the Metro train will run between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and, later, the service will be extended to Jatni and Puri.
