Bhubaneswar: 1990 batch IPS officer Y B Khurania assumed charge as Odisha’s new Director General of Police (DGP) in the afternoon today at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
Notably, a notification regarding Khurania’s appointment was issued in the forenoon today.
Recently, the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has given a nod to a proposal in this regard approving the premature repatriation of senior IPS officer YB Khurania to Odisha.
Before his repatriation to Odisha cadre, Khurania served as the Special DG at the BSF Headquarters in New Delhi. His previous stints include serving as Police Commissioner of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nayagarh, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, and Ganjam districts in Odisha.
This apart, he had served as the DIG of Northern and Southern Ranges. He had also served as the Director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy.
