Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen its outreach to tribal communities, the Congress party on Saturday announced new appointments for the chairpersons of its Adivasi Congress Departments in Odisha and Rajasthan.
According to an official press release issued by K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the appointments were approved by the Congress President and take effect immediately.
Yashbant Narayan Singh Laguri has been named Chairperson of the Adivasi Congress Department in the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. Meanwhile, Ganesh Ghogra will assume the role of Chairperson of the Adivasi Congress Department in the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee.
“The Hon’ble Congress President has approved the proposal for the appointment of the State Chairpersons of the Adivasi Congress Departments of Odisha and Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committees, as follows, with immediate effect,” the notification read.
These strategic appointments are part of the party’s broader efforts to bolster its organizational framework and deepen engagement with Adivasi communities, especially in states with significant tribal populations.
