Yellow Alert For 14 Districts As IMD Forecasts Very Heavy Rains: SRC Alerts Collectors

Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena on Tuesday issued an advisory to Collectors and senior officials of Agriculture Department and Emergency Services to remain prepared for heavy rains as forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal
and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the
districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack,Jagatsingh pur, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Jharsuguda.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form in east central and north east Bay of Bengal around September 25. This system will reach Odisha coast in subsequent 48 hours around 27th September, the SRC’s letter read.

“Under its influence, a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha from September 26.”
