Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across several districts of Odisha over the next four days (From October 6 to 9).
The warning comes as a trough persists from north Bihar through Jharkhand to north Odisha at approximately 1.5 km above mean sea level.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, thunderstorm activity with lightning and surface wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph is expected to occur at one or two places in many districts.
On October 6 and 7, the affected districts include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The alert extends to additional districts including Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri on October 8 and 9, along with those already mentioned.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
