Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center here issued yellow warnings for 13 Odisha districts for rain and thunderstorm on Monday. According to the MeT offices, a number of places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the next 24 hours.
The IMD has forecast that the wind speed in the above-mentioned districts will be around 30kmph to 40 kmph.
“Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts,” the IMD said in a bulletin.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Bolangir districts,” the bulletin added.
Maximum rainfall of 28 mm was recorded in Nayagarh district, 20 mm in Bhavanipatna and 12 mm in Daringabadi in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, another western disturbance is likely to form on March 30 bringing more rain.
