Yet Another Elephant Calf Found Dead In Odisha’s Khurda Forest

Bhubaneswar: Yet another elephant calf was found dead in the Dhuannali-Silingapada-Tamana jungle near Banapur under Balungaon forest division in Khordha district a jungle in Odisha on Wednesday evening.

The reason behind the death of the elephant calf, aged about 18 months old, is yet to be ascertained.

On being informed, staff from the Balugaon forest division reached the spot and sent the carcass for post-mortem.

According to the Forest officials, the reason behind the death of the elephant calf will be known upon receipt of the post-mortem report.

It is worth mentioning here that frequent deaths of elephants have become a matter of grave concern for the Forest department as well as wildlife lovers. Over 600 elephants have died due to various reasons in the state during the last decade.
