Bhubaneswar: “Girls you have worked hard and played well. You lost the game but have won our hearts,” said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while talking with the Indian Women’s Hockey Team through a video call on Friday.
Congratulating the women’s team, Patnaik said that he will meet them on their arrival in Bhubaneswar on August 17.
Thanking the Chief Minister, Indian Women’s Hockey Team Captain Rani Rampal said that Odisha Government has helped them in their journey.
“Odisha has already become a sports hub in the country with many international tournaments being hosted by you and our team is also being sponsored by the Odisha Government. You have a big role in our journey, therefore, the credit also goes to you. You encouraged and supported us in every Pool. I thank you on behalf of our team,” said Rampal.
Finally, the Chief Minister asked all the players to stay happy and keep working hard as they have a long time ahead. He further assured that Odisha will keep supporting them.
Notably, the dream of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team to win bronze in their maiden entry into the medal round at the Tokyo Olympics came crashing down in a 4-3 defeat to Great Britain today.
