Berhampur: In a tragic incident, a young couple attempted suicide at their residence in Dengadi under Patpur police limits in Berhampur district on Monday. While the husband is battling with life at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, the wife has breathed her last.
The victims have been identified as Nilendri Mohanty and his wife Jaysen Mohanty. The couple was married just two years ago. Nilendri hailed from Kharu Burai and Jaysen was from Dengadi.
Both Nilendri and Jaysen worked as teachers. While Nilendri was a teacher at Kachkhandi High Primary School in Berhampur, Jaysen worked in a school outside the district.
The police recovered the body of Jaysen and sent Jaysen’s body for post-mortem and launched an investigation.
The reason why the couple took the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
