Bhubaneswar: A young couple allegedly committed by suicide by hanging themselves from a fan at Kukuda Khalei village under Jenapur police limits in Jajpur district.

The deceased have been identified as Judge Mallick (24) and his wife Jharana Malik (22), son and daughter-in-law of Babula Malik.

According to reports, a family feud had been brewing for some days which might have led to the couple’s drastic decision. The couple had attended the village’s Astaprahari ceremony and returned home after some time.

Babula, went to call his son Judge when he didn’t return to the ceremony. Finding the door locked and getting no response despite knocking, he suspected something was wrong and broke open the door. He was shocked to find the couple hanging from a fan. They were taken down and rushed to Dharmasala Community Health Centre, where they were declared dead.

Upon being informed, police have seized the bodies and launched an investigation.
