Bhubaneswar: A young and vibrant journalist belonging to Cuttack lost his fight with COVID on Sunday. The journalist, Manoj Beborta, was just 38.
Manoj was suffering from COVID-19 for the past week. According to reports, his family was searching for a bed and with the efforts of a senior official at the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, he was admitted to a private hospital.
Manoj breathed his last on Sunday night.
Speaking about Manoj, his ex-colleague and Delhi-based journalist, Sahasranshu Mahapatra said that he was a very dynamic youth with a promising career ahead.
After completing his journalism course in Delhi, Manoj started with CNN IBN in 2007, at the Guest Coordination Desk. He moved on to NDTV, where he successfully handled the shows of senior Journalists like Nidhi Razdan, Sreenivasan Jain, Barkha Dutt and Sunetra Choudhury, at the Guest Coordination Desk.
“Later Manoj moved to News 18 where he was working in the News 18 Focus Team. Since, September 2020, Manoj was in Cuttack, working from home. His demise is shocking. We were in regular touch. He was very healthy and a fitness freak. May his soul rest in peace,” said Mahapatra.
Sharing her thoughts about this unfortunate incident, senior journalist Sunetra Choudhury tweeted:
A minute after tweeting this am heartbroken to learn my former TV colleague, the very bright, young Manoj Beborta has died of covid in Odisha. Manoj was lovely and had a promising career ahead of him. Just so sad https://t.co/9mcSuvhhuu pic.twitter.com/x1FLuz7COo
