Angul: Yet another incident of alleged dowry violence and murder has been reported from Patrapada village under Bagdia police limits in Odisha’s Angul district.
The deceased has been identified as Usha Nayak, wife of Arjun Nayak.
The woman’s parents have alleged that she was subjected to mental torture and murdered for dowry.
According to reports, Usha Naik of Jambunali village under Chhendipada police limits married Arjun Nayak of Patrapada village. The Usha’s parents have alleged that soon after the marriage, their daughter was subjected to physical and mental torture by her in-laws for dowry.
On Tuesday, the Usha’s family members were informed that she was critically ill and asked them to come to Chhendipada Community Health Center (CHC). Osha’s parents rushed to the CHC and were shocked to find that their daughter was dead. Arjun and his family members told them that Usha was suffering from severe depression and ended her life by hanging on Tuesday.
However, Usha’s family members suspected foul play and filed a complaint at Bagdia police station alleging that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws.
The police have seized the woman’s body from the Chhendipada CHC and sent it for autopsy. The police have also registered a murder case and arrested the woman’s husband Arjun.
