Puri: A shocking incident has emerged from Bali Harachandi tourist spot in Puri district, where a young woman was allegedly gang-raped after being blackmailed by a group of local youths. Police have detained three suspects in connection with the case, and the survivor has undergone medical examination today.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Friday when a young couple visited Bali Harachandi, a popular tourist spot near the sea beach. Four local youths from Chandiput village allegedly clicked their photographs and then used them to blackmail the woman. The accused later subjected her to sexual assault.
On Saturday, three youths from Chandiput were taken into custody by the Special Squad for interrogation. Preliminary reports suggest that the accused include Rahul Sahu, Shiva Sahu and Adya Behera of Chandiput village. Police are also on the lookout for the alleged mastermind behind the crime.
The incident has triggered outrage across the Brahmagiri area, with locals demanding strict action against the culprits. Police sources said efforts are underway to gather more evidence and arrest any other individuals linked to the case.
Bali Harachandi, being a frequented tourist destination, draws visitors from various places. The gang-rape at the site has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of tourists in the region.
