Cuttack: The Cuttack UPD has started investigation into the case of rape and assault on a girl who was attacked by a youth in lieu of giving her a lift to the city.
The incident took place in between a place located on the border of Tangi and Choudwar police limits. The girl had gone to Nischintkoili for celebrating Rakhi with her relatives and on the way back to Cuttack, she confronted a molester.
As she opposed to his advances, the girl was pushed away from the moving bike. She sustained serious injuries and was lying in an unconscious state. Passersby rescued her and rushed her to the SCB Medical College and Hospital.
DCP Pinak Mishra said that a case has been registered by Cuttack UPD in this connection and basing on the statement of the victim, investigation has started. The prime accused will be arrested soon, he added.
