Cuttack: A man identified as Sarat Pradhan died while in the custody of the Excise department personnel in Choudwar on Sunday morning. The deceased was a native of Mahisalanda area in Choudwar.
He was arrested by the Excise in a bootlegging case on Monday. He complained of an inconvenience after which Pradhan was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead.
However, the brother of Pradhan has alleged that he was beaten by the sleuths which led to his death. A case has been registered in this connection and a probe initiated, reports added.
