Balasore: A 35-year-old youth was arrested on the charges of raping a physically-challenged woman in Manipur village under Soro police station in Balasore district on Saturday.
Baidhar Singh (35), a resident of Gajaamba village under Aupada police station, allegedly assaulted the woman sexually in a forest near Manipur Khunta in the district.
The accused fled the spot and hid himself in his village.
Some people of Khunta village went to the forest to fetch firewood and saw the hapless disabled woman.
The villagers rescued the survivor and handed her over to the police.
Later, on receiving the information, the IIC of Oupada police station, Srabana Kumar Maharana captured the accused and handed him over to Soro police.
A case was registered in this connection. Investigation is underway, police said.
