Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested a youth for robbing an SUV from his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) by terrorizing him with a toy gun at Sundarapada under Airfield police station in Bhubaneswar.

The incident happened on Thursday morning when Rudra Prasad Mohanty of Basudev Nagar in Berhampur came to his brother-in-law Manoj Kumar Purohit at Friends Residency in Sundarapada area and demanded Rs 50,000 cash by terrorizing him and hurling slangs.

When Manoj refused to pay the amount, the accused again frightened the security guard and took away a red colour BREZZA Car forcefully.

“Manoj immediately informed us over phone. One of our teams immediately chased him and intercepted him near Pipili. We brought him to the police station and recovered the car with the seizure of the gun. During the examination, we observed that the gun was a toy,” said ACP GS Champatiray.

Later, Manoj lodged a written complaint at the Airfield police station.

Rudra is found to be involved in a case pending in Berhampur Sadar police station, police said.
