Angul: A 24-year-old youth of Angul allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his throat after losing an online game. He is undergoing treatment at Angul District Headquarters Hospital.
According to sources, Soumya Ranjan Nayak of Jeranga village lost his temper after losing the Free Fire game repeatedly. Soumya was so violent that he brought a blade and tried to end his life by slitting his throat.
His family members called the ambulance and admitted him to District Headquarters Hospital after finding him bleeding profusely. His condition is stated to be stable. No police complaint has been filed so far.
Earlier, a 19-year-old student from Guda village in Balasore district, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after losing over Rs 1 lakh playing online games.
With youths in large numbers getting addicted to mobile games, mental health issues are growing rapidly in this digital age. Several reports of teenagers losing money and going into depression have become regular affairs nowadays.
