Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a youth attempted to end his life in front of the Kamakhyanagar tehsil office on Tuesday.
The individual, identified as Pravat Rout, a resident of Kanpura village under Kamakhyanagar police station, reportedly took this extreme step due to a long-standing land dispute.
According to sources, Pravat alleged that 30 years ago, his family had temporarily handed over a piece of land to one Balabhadra Rout, with documented proof of the agreement. However, he accused Balabhadra of now producing fake documents and refusing to return the land.
Pravat expressed his frustration, saying, “My mother had approached the Collector’s office and the Collector assured her that he would handle the situation. Yesterday, she visited the RI office, where officials promised to carry out a land demarcation at 10 a.m. today. However, when my mother and my son went to the RI office this morning, the officer used abusive language, threatened us and asked why we were there.”
Upon receiving information about the incident, Kamakhyanagar police immediately rushed to the spot, rescued Pravat and admitted him to Kamakhyanagar Medical for treatment.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
