Bhubaneswar: A 37-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his uncle late Friday night in Badakanjini village under Angul Sadar police station in Angul district.
The deceased, identified as Sudarshan Das of Badakanjini village.
According to reports, Sudarshan visited his uncle Basant Kumar Das’s residence in Masani Khandi, on the outskirts of the village, to deliver dinner around 10 pm. The meal consisted of mutton curry and rice.
When Sudarshan failed to return home, his wife began a search and was horrified to find him lying lifeless at the location. Villagers claimed that Basant, who is said to suffer from mental illness, attacked Sudarshan with a bamboo stick immediately after receiving the food.
Upon learning of the incident, local residents apprehended Basant, tied him to a tree, and promptly alerted the police. After receiving the information, Angul Sadar police reached the spot and started an investigation.
