Balasore: One youth died while three others sustained critical injuries after they were brutally thrashed for allegedly stealing from a cloth store in Sartha village under Singla police limits in Balasore district on Sunday.
According to reports, a few days ago, some miscreants broke the lock of Ajay Das’ cloth shop in Sartha village. Das lodged a complaint with the police station but the thieves could not be traced. On Sunday, the shop owner and his relatives tied Trilochan Pradhan, Satish Singh, Bhanu Pradhan and Tapu Mohanty of the village to electric stakes and beat up mercilessly with iron rods on suspicion of the theft.
Trilochan died on the spot while three others were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Amidst the unrest, the accused Ajay Das and his uncle have been detained by the police. The deceased family has demanded compensation for the next of kin of Trilochan Pradhan and strict action against all the accused.
