Youth Critical After Being Attacked By Liquor Mafia In Balasore

Balasore: A youth has sustained critical injuries after being allegedly attacked by liquor mafia near a Shiva Temple on the outskirts of Radhaballavpur village under Simulia police limits of Balasore district on Tuesday night.

The youth identified as Abhimanyu Das (27) of Radhaballavpur village was returning home after watching a melody programme (dance and musical performance on a public stage) in Goudapada village when he was attacked by four to five miscreants.

Reportedly on Monday, two liquor dealers transporting country-made liquor from Soro to Bhadrak were intercepted by Abhimanyu and locals on the spot. As the situation aggravated, they fled leaving behind their vehicles and liquor which was later handed over to Simulia Police Station.

Keeping a grudge over the said incident, the liquor dealers along with aides attacked Abhimanyu with sharp weapons last night and chopped his left arm and palm.

Abhimanyu was found in a bloodied condition lying in front of a shop. He was rescued by locals and rushed to Simulia Community Health Centre (CHC) from where he was shifted to Bhadrak Hospital.

As his condition worsened, he was referred to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack. A complaint in this regard has been lodged by Abhimanyu’s father and Simulia Police Station.
