Sword Attack In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A youth sustained critical injuries after being attacked with a sword by a group of miscreants near the Sishu Bhawan traffic square in the state capital late on Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Biki Nayak.

According to sources, Nayak was riding his motorcycle near the Sishu Bhawan square when a car allegedly rammed into his two-wheeler from behind. Following the incident, around 10 persons reportedly emerged from the vehicle and launched a violent assault on him.

As Nayak attempted to flee towards Forest Park Road, the assailants chased him and attacked him with a sword, inflicting serious injuries.

On being alerted, personnel from the Airport Police Station reached the spot and immediately rushed the injured youth to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar. However, as his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.

Police have launched a probe into the incident and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
