Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief and announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of Santosh Parida, 46, who succumbed to injuries today at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after being attacked by cattle smugglers in the Thihidi police station area of Bhadrak a few days ago.
The CM assured that the culprits would face serious action as per the law. The compensation will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Majhi also announced a government job for one of the family members of Parida. The police have arrested 12 accused in connection with the attack.
However, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have demanded the arrest of over 60 individuals, claiming that many more people were involved in the incident. The organizations also expressed concern about the safety of Hindus in the area and demanded protection.
Parida had been undergoing treatment for 13 days before succumbing to his injuries at 2 pm today. The incident has sparked tension in the area, with the local administration facing pressure to take stern action against the perpetrators.
