Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a youth succumbed to alleged slow poisoning by his younger brother for being strict and overprotectiveness at Gundicha Colony near Salapada under Anandapur block in Keonjhar district.
The victim, Debabrata Das was very strict to his younger brother Satyabrat, which led to resentment of Satyabrat.
A viral audio recording reveals a chilling conversation between the two brothers before Debabrata’s death. In the purported audio, Debabrata accuses Satyabrata of poisoning him, citing motives related to a farm dispute and disagreements over his studies.
The audio recording reveals Satyabrata’s confession to mixing monocrotophos, a pesticide, in Debabrata’s food thrice and releasing formaldehyde in his room.
In the purported audio conversation, Debabrata was heard requesting his younger brother in choked voice to tell him the name of the poison so that doctors can treat him well. Satyabrat confessed to have given him monocrotophos in food thrice which he purchased from a fertiliser shop. Debabrata said “If I lodge a police complaint, you would spend rest of your life behind bars. But, I have much affection for you being your elder brother. I don’t want to harm you.”
Debabrata, who was rescued by family members, underwent treatment in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar hospitals for nine days before succumbing to his poisoning.
Police investigation is underway to verify the circumstances surrounding Debabrata’s tragic death.
