Puri: A young man died under mysterious circumstances at a de-addiction centre in Puri.

The incident occurred at the Right Future de-addiction centre near Mangarajpur Chowk in Puri Sadar police limits.

The deceased, identified as D Ram Murti, a resident of Nua Sahi at Chakratirtha Road, was admitted to the centre on July 23. His family received news of his death the next day.

They alleged that Ram Murti was beaten to death at the centre and demanded action against those responsible. They have protested outside the office of the Superintendent of Police, Puri, seeking justice for the victim.

Upon being informed, Sadar police have seized the body.

“A post-mortem report will help determine the cause of death. The owner of the de-addiction centre has been summoned for questioning”, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO).
