Jajpur: A youth died while his father was severely injured after being attacked with a sharp weapon over a love affair. Such an incident has occurred at Bambilo village in Sukinda block of Jajpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Mahapatra, the son of Santosh Mahapatra of the village.
Reportedly, the accused identified as Santanu Samal was in love with Jitendra’s sister. However, Jitendra and his family opposed it as Samal was already married.
Irate over it, Samal attacked the father and son at around 9 pm on Tuesday. The injured father and son were rushed to Sukinda Community Health Centre where the doctor declared Jitendra as dead.
Following the incident, locals staged a dharna. They torched the vehicle of accused Samal and also ransacked his house. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
