Sundargarh: A youth drowned at Kanakund, a tourist spot on river Ib near Goghar village under Talsara police limits in Sundargarh district today.
According to reports, the deceased was a native of neighbouring state Bihar and was working at the Bhushan Steel Plant in Jharsuguda.
The youth with two of his friends was on a visit to the tourist spot. While his friends managed to cross the river to the other side by stepping on stones, he drowned.
Fire Service personnel have fished out the body.
Notably, last year while on a picnic, a young woman from Rajgangpur had drowned to death at the same spot after her feet slipped on a stone while crossing the river.
