Puri: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the sacred Narendra Puskarini pond in Puri, where a youth drowned while bathing. The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed yet.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth, who couldn’t swim, went to take a dip in the pond to escape the heat but struggled to reach the shore. Locals alerted the fire brigade, which conducted a search operation and eventually found the youth’s body.
He was rushed to the Puri district headquarters hospital, where the doctor declared him dead on arrival.
This is not the first incident of its kind, as two similar incidents were reported last year. Raj Kishore Satpathi and Nalinikant Tripathi, both pilgrims, drowned in the same pond while bathing.
