Bhadrak: One person drowned, while two others are critical after they slipped into a river in Somnathpur village in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday. The three had gone to bathe in the river when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the three youths Manas Ranjan Swain (23), Tapanu Swain (21), and Golak Swain (15) of Somnathpur village had gone to the local river to bathe. However, the three slipped and went into deep waters. Hearing their cries for help, local villagers rushed to rescue them from the water.
The villagers succeeded in rescuing the youths and took them to Bhadrak Medical Center, where the doctors declared Manas ‘brought dead.’ The condition of the other two victims is said to be critical.
In another tragic incident, a 67-year-old woman was been swept away by flood waters in the Dhamnagar block under the Bhadrak district of Odisha on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Rebati Patra.
The woman had gone for her daily ambulation when she was swept off all of a sudden in the current of the river.
