Bhubaneswar: A youth went missing while bathing in river Mahanadi at Naraj in Cuttack district on Thursday.
According to reports, seven youths from the Kaligali area of Cuttack had gone to take a bath in the river Mahanadi at Naraj in the afternoon on Thursday.
While bathing one of the youths went deeper into the river and within seconds drowned. Fishermen on the river bank tried to rescue the youth but he remained untraceable. Locals informed Godisahi police outpost and Barang fire station.
Police and Fire Service personnel have launched a search and rescue operation to trace the missing youth.
The identity of the missing youth has not been established.
