Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Baramunda Dalit Sahi area of Bhubaneswar on Monday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Gochhayat, though the exact cause of his death remains unclear.
According to family members, Rahul’s death may have been linked to emotional distress arising from a romantic relationship.
They allege that he had been under significant psychological pressure related to the affair and suggest that the girl involved may have contributed to his emotional turmoil, leading to feelings of helplessness.
“My brother was a bright and caring boy. He was in love, but things had turned bitter in the past few weeks. He became mentally disturbed and while we tried to support him, we had no idea it would end like this. We want justice for Rahul. He had asked me for money to buy food shortly before the incident,” Rahul’s sister told reporters.
In response to the incident, local police have initiated a preliminary inquiry, although a case has been registered regarding the unnatural death.
“We are currently investigating the matter and are awaiting the post-mortem report,” stated a police official.
