Kalahandi: A youth went missing while bathing in Dokaridar waterfall inside Sahajkhola forest under Kokasara block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Sunday evening.
The missing youth has been identified as Aman Agrawal (25), son of businessman Naresh Agrawal, of Dharmagarh.
According to reports, four friends went for a walk from Dharmagarh to Gudahandi Dokarichchara, a tourist spot in Koksara block under the Sahajkhol forest range. They entered the Dokaridar Falls for bathing, but Aman slipped and fell into the deep waters. While his friends – Abhijit Patyoshi (26), Deepesh Agarwal (26), and Lorddutta Behera (26) of Dharmagarh – tried to rescue Aman, but he could not come out of the water.
Seeing their friend drown, Aman’s friends informed the members of the local development committee about the incident. The development committee, in turn, informed the Ampani Police, following which the personnel of the Ampani Police and Koksara Fire Services Department reached the spot and began a rescue operation that continued till late in the night.
However, the missing youth could not be traced and the police resumed the rescue operation on Monday morning. Koksara block vice president Rajeev Agarwal, Junagadh NAC Chairman Mukesh Agarwal, development committee workers, Ampani police station officer Chaturbhuj Naik, and Fire Services personnel are present at the spot and are assisting in the rescue operation.
