Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a youth hacked to death a 55-year-old woman in Koilapada locality of Rayagada town over the alleged practice of witchcraft today.
The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Chandrama Bibhar. The accused identified as Rajesh Kulesika has been arrested by the police. While further investigation is underway police have seized the axe used by the accused to commit the crime.
As per reports, Rajesh Kulesika of Koilapada today afternoon hacked to death his neighbour Chandrama in a fit of rage with an axe.
Rajesh had been suspecting Chandrama of practising witchcraft over the last few days. Earlier, the two families had spats over the issue. Today in a fit of rage Rajesh hacked Chandrama on her neck with the axe leading to her death instantaneously.
“Everything is subject to investigation. An investigating officer will be assigned to investigate the case. Surely, the allegation of the deceased’s son that the murder was over suspicion of witchcraft will be also taken into account,” said Rayagada SDPO Debjyoti Das who was present at the spot.
